A 2-stage AR trigger isnt the same or as light as a nice bolt action 2 stage or even a Savage accutrigger adjusted all the way down. And yes I have a Larue and a SSA-E.
The trigger has just caught the second stage, approximately 2/3rds of the pressure of the first trigger pull is all that's needed to fire the next shot from this vantage point.
The whole purpose for a 2-stage trigger is to simulate the feel of a light single stage, but at the same time retain a solid sear engagement for safety. Typically, the first stage of the trigger pull feels like take-up.
The Rock River Arms upgrade trigger "kit" is 2 piece design instead of a 3 piece like the stock AR15 trigger setup. Installation difficulty is a 3 on a 1-10 scale and takes around 15 minutes to install.
The trigger I would use on a 20” 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 is absolutely expected to feel different than the trigger I will use on a 14.5” AR-15. I want predictable and fast follow up shots with duty or defensive carbines.
The only trigger I like better is the SSA-E but at 2.5x the price ill go for the AST every single time unless I'm doing a best of the best build. ETA one thing I dislike about the Centurion (and all Schmid 2 stage triggers I've seen) is the silver (nickel boron?) colored trigger shoe.
