Abdukodir Khusanov has signed for Manchester City on a €40 million deal from Ligue 1 side Lens, but he could have been playing across the city for Manchester United had fate decided differently.

The Athletic reported that Khusanov attracted interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, and they will disappointed to miss out on a coveted young centre-back. City have conceded more goals than any team in the top six of the Premier League, who will all be interested to see if this signing can improve a porous back line.

It is shaping up to be a busy January window for Man City, with Abdukodir Khusanov having officially joined and several more transfers due to be completed.
