On Tuesday, AT&T revealed Wireless Account Lock, a new protection designed to curb the SIM-swap scams. When activated, the lock prevents changes from being made to a SIM until it's turned off again. The on/off button for Wireless Account Lock is available in the settings of the myAT&T mobile app.

AT&T is launching a new Account Lock feature that’s designed to protect wireless users against SIM swapping attacks. The feature, which you can enable from the myAT&T app, prevents unauthorized changes to your account, like phone number transfers, SIM card changes, and updates to billing information.

If you're an AT&T customer, you can turn on a new security feature that prevents your phone number from being moved to a different device without your knowledge, exposing your data to cyber criminals in the process.
