Avery Johnson excelled on the field even as reports surfaced of a physical altercation between his father and brother following the Iowa State loss.

A video that had been viewed more than 300,000 times across multiple posts in the immediate hours following the season-opener for both teams appeared to show Mark Johnson (the father of K-State quarterback Avery Johnson) engaged in a physical altercation, reportedly with his eldest son.
