A strong, 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck in the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The temblor happened at 1:51 a.m. Eastern European time about 14 miles southeast of Fry, Greece, data from the agency shows. U.S.G.S. data earlier reported that the magnitude was 6.1.

The epicentre of the Greece earthquake was near the coast of Crete and so tourists on the island - popular with British holidaymakers - have now been warned to be vigilant
