Eddie Murphy Defends His Controversial Movie Nearly 2 Decades After Its Premiere originally appeared on Parade. Actor and comedian Eddie Murphy is defending his highly criticized 2007 film, Norbit.

Elsewhere in the interview, Murphy listed off his “Mount Rushmore” of his favorite movies of his career, which included Coming to America (1988), The Nutty Professor (1996), Shrek (2001) and the musical Dreamgirls (2006), for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Eddie Murphy isn’t afraid to admit that he loves “Norbit.” The actor and comedian, 64, recently defended his critically maligned 2007 comedy which many believe caused Murphy to lose an Oscar for his performance in 2006’s “Dreamgirls.”
