From Friday afternoon into the evening, moderate to potentially heavy snowfalls are possible, gradually decreasing late Friday night into Saturday morning. Quieter weather is expected for the rest of the weekend.

The first wave of snow began early Sunday and conditions worsened throughout the day into the evening as snow was replaced by freezing rain. The ice-and-sleety mix fell on top of the morning snow, snarling traffic, closing Kentucky’s three major airports and closing dozens of churches, restaurants and stores.

A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for the winter weather headed our way Thursday into Friday morning. Confidence is increasing that heavy snow will fall in the northern ArkLaTex. The forecast remains uncertain for the I-20 corridor.

While Thursday will just be cold, Friday will bring a combination of snow and ice that will create travel disruptions and possible power outages.
