Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who is most recognized for playing Theodore “Theo” Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has died at age 54, TheWrap has learned. According to local police, the actor, poet, producer and director died as a result of drowning after swimming in Costa Rica while on a family vacation. TMZ was first to report the news on Monday.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who rose to fame on The Cosby Show, has reportedly died. The actor, who was nominated for an Emmy for playing Theodore Huxtable on the NBC sitcom in the ‘80s, is also known for roles on The Resident and his eponymous sitcom Malcolm & Eddie.
