The largest of the blazes, the Palisades Fire, is more than 37 square miles. That’s more than half the land size of Washington, D.C. A second fire, the Eaton Fire, is now more than 22 square miles. The Palisades Fire threatens thousands of structures inside the fire’s perimeter.

While areas of Los Angeles County are still under mandatory evacuation orders, Southern California gets a "much-needed" reprieve from fire weather conditions. But, the break will likely be short-lived as "dangerous fire weather conditions" are forecasted to pick back up again the following week, according to the National Weather Service, NWS.

Poor air quality has been detected in multiple states surrounding California. The state has been hit with multiple deadly fires that left thousands of homes destroyed. Wildfire smoke contains fine particles that can reach deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream,

Wildfires continue to rage through Los Angeles leaving at least 24 dead and destroying more than 12,000 structures.

Mandatory evacuation orders are still in place. As of 11 a.m. local time Monday, all areas under evacuation orders and warnings are placed on a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. local time, according to Cal Fire.

Fueled by powerful winds and dry conditions, a series of ferocious wildfires erupted last week and roared across the Los Angeles area.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) says that more than 12,300 structures have been destroyed—though individual measures for Palisades and Eaton are less than this. Investigators are still working to measure the number of lost and damaged buildings.
