The Chicago Sky are one of the most popular teams in the WNBA because of emerging stars like Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. They added to their star power by drafting TCU guard Hailey Van Lith in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

The female fan had already received an autograph on her chest from someone else, presumably a player on the team who had already walked by.

The Chicago Sky got off to a poor start in the 2025 WNBA season with a blowout loss to the Indiana Fever on opening weekend. They returned home for their second contest against the New York Liberty on Thursday and got dismantled once again.

According to Ben Pickman of The Athletic, the Liberty are valued at $450 million after raising capital from a group of investors, which "is believed to be a record across professional women’s sports and is more than double that of the last publicly known capital raise made by a WNBA franchise."

Vandersloot will face the Liberty in the Sky’s home opener Thursday (7 p.m., The U, 670-AM) for the first time since leaving them. While she was reflective about her time with the team and living in Brooklyn, she was preoccupied by getting the Sky on track.
