Variety reports that the upcoming film is adapted from a later book in Hoffman’s Practical Magic series. Warner Bros. announced the movie’s release date with an ominous trailer featuring Kidman and Bullock chanting,

“ Practical Magic 2 ,” a follow-up to the 1998 fantasy comedy, will cast a theatrical spell next fall. The witchy sequel, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, is set to debut on Sept. 18, 2026.

News about a sequel was announced in June 2024. At the time, Warner Bros. shared a series of clips from the film on social media to confirm that "Practical Magic 2" was in the works.
