Chicago must make the correct hire in their 2025 head coaching search, and one former NFL quarterback had harsh words for a candidate the Bears will interview.
The Bears requested to interview a couple of candidates with prior head coaching experience in Brian Flores and Arthur Smith.
With the Bears expected to hire a new head coach in 2025, Brian Flores' name emerged as a 'real possibility' for Chicago.
Which coach will the Chicago Bears hire? Some expect the Bears to chase after one of the top coordinators from an NFC North rival.
The Bears requested to interview Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Both have previous head coaching experience as Flores is the former head coach of the Miami Dolphins while Smith coached the Atlanta Falcons before taking the Steelers OC job.
When Brian Flores arrived in Minnesota, the team’s defense was in shambles. They ranked 28th in points allowed and gave up the second most yards in the NFL. Two years later, the Vikings just wrapped up a 14-3 season that was driven in major part by a top-five defense in which they forced the most takeaways and allowed the second fewest rushing yards.
If Monday’s reports are any indication, Brian Flores’ days as the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator might be numbered.
Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores says he is planning on taking every interview request for a head coaching job.
The Jets and Saints have also already fired their head coach, and the Jaguars, Giants, Raiders, and others loom as teams that could join them. Flores figures to at least get some interviews in this cycle. O'Connell and the Vikings will certainly be hoping he sticks around for a third season in Minnesota.
