Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted will replace J.D. Vance in Congress' upper chamber, as the former senator readies for his inauguration as vice president.

Gov. Mike DeWine has selected his own Lt. Gov. Jon Husted to become the next senator from Ohio, passing over entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Two sources, granted anonymity to speak freely about the appointment, confirmed that DeWine will pick Husted.

DeWine will hold a news conference at 1 p.m., but his office declined to provide further details about topic of discussion.

Vivek Ramaswamy, who was also seen as a possible replacement for the vice president-elect, is widely expected to run for governor of Ohio instead.
