The Colorado Avalanche lost 3-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday at United Center. This was Chicago’s second win against Colorado this season, following a 5-2 victory in October.
Cale Makar was picked to win the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in the NHL by an NHL.com panel prior to the season and at the quarter mark of the season. Halfway into the season, he's still the favorite.
Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar and his wife Tracy Evans were in attendance at the PWHL Takeover Tour game between the Minnesota Frost and the Montreal Victoire on Sunday.
If he did look, Makar would notice he has 99 NHL goals in 356 games. His next goal will make him the fifth-fastest defenseman in the modern era to reach 100 goals, joining Bobby Orr (299 games), Paul Coffey (300), Ray Bourque (329) and Denis Potvin (348).
Makar had a power-play assist, one shot on net, three blocks and one hit in Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to Montreal.
The Broncos were playing their first playoff game in nearly a decade Sunday, but that didn't stop hockey fans from showing out at Ball Arena.
This is the obvious one. Nathan MacKinnon leads the NHL with 68 points, seven more than Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl in second place. Also of note, he’s first in points per game at 1.58, narrowly ahead of the Art Ross winner last season, Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov at 1.57.
