Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares has been sidelined with a lower-body injury following an incident during Wednesday’s practice. The injury occurred during a power-play drill, forcing Tavares to leave the ice early.

The Toronto Maple Leafs called up Fraser Minten from the Toronto Marlies on Thursday morning. Following an injury to John Tavares at practice on Wednesday, it made sense for the club to call up their prospect center who has played in the third-line center spot previously.

With Tavares out for at least four games, a Maple Leafs team that was already light on centre depth will now see its options tested.
