Kat Dennings recalled a casting director calling her 'fat' and not 'pretty enough' when she was 12 years old: 'How can anyone say that about a little kid? This is insane.'

Since getting her start on the WB sitcom “Raising Dad” 24 years ago, Kat Dennings has seen it all. In a recent conversation with People, Dennings discussed casting directors who were “very cruel” to her even at a young age.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Kat Dennings looks back at the harsh critiques she received from casting directors as a child actor and recalls how she was told she was "fat" at just 12 years old.

It was pretty crazy thinking about it. I’m like, ‘How can anyone say that about a little kid? This is insane,'” Dennings recalled.

Dennings looked back on her career and the Hollywood beauty standards she came up auditioning as a 12-year-old kid.

Long before her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Darcy Lewis, actress Kat Dennings said she received some disparaging comments about her body from a few casting directors very early in her career.
