Pierre, who served as White House press secretary under former President Joe Biden, has switched her party affiliation to independent, according to a publishing company’s description of her forthcoming book.

She is releasing a book, titled "Independent," about the broken state of the White House in the chaotic weeks before Biden dropped out of the presidential race last year.

In a coming book, Ms. Jean-Pierre will describe a “betrayal” by her party when Joseph R. Biden Jr. ended his re-election campaign. Democrats were quick to criticize her.
