El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson expressed condolences following the Tuesday, July 8, flash flood in Ruidoso that killed three people, including two children from a Fort Bliss family.

The Village of Ruidoso will come together on Tuesday, June 17, for a remembrance event that will honor all impacted by the South Fork and Salt fires.

Two children and a man have died as a result of the flash flooding on Tuesday, July 8, in Ruidoso, the Village of Ruidoso said in an update. The Village says a 7-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl, and a man in his 40s or 50s died after they were swept downstream by the flood.

Senator Heinrich said the increase in severity of climate events, like the ones happening here in Ruidoso with the fires and floods, has to come with a change in how resources and recovery efforts are allocated.
