Real world Lightroom performance on base 8GB M1 MacBook Air

Also, even with small raw files, when you zoom in and pan around the image, the image freezes every time you move it. “Normal” Lightroom (non-classic) runs a lot smoother.
Dilemma - M3 MacBook Air 13in 8GB/1TB or 16GB/512GB?
Mar 8, 2024 · In the US, Apple has Refurb 13" M2 Air models with 16GB/1TB for $1,359.00, while a new 13" M3 Air with the same Ram/Storage/CPU+GPU core count is $1,499. I've purchased plenty of Apple refurbs and have been happy with every single one. Plus you can purchase AppleCare if you prefer.

Jun 30, 2023 · 16GB/1TB should be sufficient for what you describe. We disagree. IMO 16 GB would be a seriously wrong choice. 24 GB is an absolute minimum, and only a choice because someone wants to spend less and compromise with the lower end, lighter MBA. 32 GB (or better 64 GB) will allow less constrained future operation.

Feb 7, 2024 · I was going to go 16GB and 512 GB SSD and there are a lot of people with that, and it's arguably one of the hottest Mac mini's to come around since the 2012 quad core. In the end I bought a base model M2 8GB, 256GB on back to school for $400 rather than $1200. It was just too good a deal.
16GB is just barely ok for serious software development
Jun 21, 2022 · I actually ran 8GB for a similar setup to this when I only had an M1 Macbook Air. It was quite miserable. I thought 16GB would be enough but it's just barely ok. I always have to think about closing apps to free up more memory. Configuring a custom Macbook with 32GB of RAM could delay shipping by weeks/months.
