SFP+ seemed to be the most immediate and proven option, so I opted for used SFP+ ConnectX-3 cards and simple passive DAC cables. Relatively cheap and plentiful.
If a switch supports 10 Gigabit, can it support 2.5GB?
EDIT/Clarification - I'm certainly open to a "10G SFP+" if I can use SFP+ transceivers to make it 2.5G Ethernet/copper/RJ45 capable.
