The Salida Mail, Dec. 23, 1924: Mrs. James Noonan lost her eyeglasses last summer while she was walking through a vegetable garden in the T.C. Dolan yard. She was positive she dropped the glasses in the garden patch and a thorough search was made for them. Mrs. Dolan sent a head of cabbage to Mrs. Newman last week as a gift from the garden.

Wonhof said county workers “take advantage of summer and winter mountain activities,” which means his department sees lower unemployment rates in summer months, as well as from October through December, which precede spikes in unemployment in January and February.
