Here's the current High Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model, another tool in our toolbox. It indicates heaviest rainfall for the Midlands/CSRA between 3 am and sunrise. Lows will generally be in the upper 30s...a cold, wet and breezy night. #scwx #gawx #caewx | US National Weather Service Columbia South Carolina

Check it out! The high-resolution rapid refresh (HRRR) model thinks we will see a pretty active thunderstorm-wise on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Check out how the map fills up with model-estimated rain accumulations! This would be on-top of what already fell today. Localized flash flooding will be a threat! ~David #txwx #texas #flooding #FlashFlood | Texas Storm Chasers

8:30am - I think the HRRR (High-Resolution Rapid Refresh Model) has a pretty good handle on the storms now and moving forward. The first large band is moving through now and should clear the area between 11am-12pm. At the moment there is no severe weather but watch out for heavy (beneficial!) rain, lightning and gusty winds. A second band of showers/storms is likely to form between 2-3pm inland and head toward the coast between 4-6pm. A few storms could be severe with damaging wind and large hai

The NOAA Global Systems Lab’s High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) weather model celebrated 10 years of operations! The HRRR model has improved multiple types of forecasting such as wildfire smoke, lake effect snow, and wind forecasts. Check out the link below to learn about all the successes of the HRRR model and what is up next for the project. *Note this animation is not of current conditions. It is from September 2020 when there were significant wildfires burning in California Link: https://

Here is the HRRR (High Resolution Rapid Refresh) model from now until 18 hours out. Projected simulated radar on where rain is possible. As you can see, it's going to be hit or miss. NOT a washout, but there is going to the chance for a few showers overnight-early Friday morning, and a few hit or miss on Friday. Not a guarantee to get a shower or storm, but something to keep in mind. A lot of graduations are tonight, tomorrow night and this weekend and we will do our best to be as accurate as po

This is the latest iteration of the HRRR (High Resolution Rapid Refresh) model from 3am to 6pm, Friday. It depicts showers and storms flaring up in the Brush Country by 3am, then moving east, into the Coastal Bend. 7a-3p looks like the most likely window of time for showers/storms in the Coastal Bend. Activity then starts to move out/decrease by 3/4p. Main threats with any stronger storms will be hail and strong wind gusts. Not all of the storms will be strong/severe, but a few will be possible.

Here is the smoke forecast from the HRRR (High Resolution Rapid Refresh Model) - and what you'll see is that the smoke never really "goes away" - it will vary in coverage through Friday morning. It will be the worst across northern portions of the area due to smoke from the Lee Fire burning in Rio Blanco County near Meeker. A weather pattern change this weekend should help and bring better chances of showers and storms. K thanks bye. | Denver & Front Range Weather

The latest high-resolution radar model (HRRR) shows a significant push of moisture moving across the region today through Wednesday. Light to moderate rainfall will move north-northeast this afternoon and evening, focusing especially across Mendocino and Lake counties. This will be followed by showers moving north-northwest across most of the area tonight into Wednesday. Expect showers to gradually wind down throughout the day on Wednesday. While this is primarily a rain event for lower elevatio

📡 Simulated radar from the latest HRRR high-resolution model from 11 PM Sat-11 PM Sunday (1/24-1/25), shows the leading edge of snowfall brushing the southern border by midnight. The bulk of the snow will have some dry air to overcome on Sunday until the primary snow growth region (aka the dendritic growth zone or DGZ) aloft saturates. Although we'll be only seeing a bit of liquid moisture transported north by our passing system, the lift and depth of the DGZ will allow for efficient snowfall p

🌧️ **WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FORECAST**: The high-resolution rapid refresh (HRRR) model suggests that we’re in for a wet and stormy time across the eastern two-thirds of Texas as we head into tonight, Thursday, and Friday morning. Some of the storms might pack a punch in the southern third of Texas, bringing gusty winds, hail, and there’s even a chance of a brief tornado! 😳⚡️ But there’s a silver lining—this event will bring a much-needed gullywasher/toadstrangler/cowturd floater that will help ea

Here's a test run of the NWS's new high resolution ensemble forecast model known as the RRFS-A model, with an acronym which translates to "RAPID REFRESH SYSTEM-PROTOTYPE A. The expectation is this will be the model which replaces the NAM, RAP and HRRR models down the road. The replacement is currently planned sometime in early 2026. | Tom Skilling
