🤩 GOSH! What a Hawk! The American Goshawk (Astur atricapillus) is the largest of North America’s forest hawks. It was split from the Northern Goshawk in 2024, along with its counterpart, the Eurasian Goshawk. 🌳 Built for life in dense woods, these powerful raptors have short, broad wings and a long tail that let them twist and rocket between trees in pursuit of prey. Up close, goshawks are unforgettable: slate-blue backs, finely barred pale chests, fierce red eyes, and a bold white eyebrow tha
